For the last few days, I have been in rehearsal for [Title of Show] with Iconotheatrix, a Houston youth theatre.
This is my first time onstage officially in several years. I’ve been hired to play “Larry”, the pianist for this very meta little show. I accompany the whole show, and even have a few lines of dialogue and interactions with the other actors. The cast is all high school and college students, and it’s a lot of fun.
We open tomorrow! Performances are November 1-11, with 5 performances per weekend. It’s also my first chance to visit Obsidian Theater, which is a really cool black box venue in the Houston Heights district.
I want to write more at length, but I’m running on a 17 hour day, and tomorrow is opening. So I’ll just leave you with some of my favorite lyrics:
